Bilingual Leadership Camp

What is La Cima Bilingual Leadership Camp?

La Cima Lower Columbia is a bilingual leadership camp for Latino high school students (9th-12th grade) in Clatsop, Tillamook and Pacific County. La Cima is not a language camp. This camp is designed for Latino high school students who wish to make a positive difference in their schools and communities.

What will the student learn or gain during the camp?

You will have the opportunity to develop leadership skills, explore educational possibilities and make a plan to attain their dreams. While learning these skills they will meet other Latinx students throughout the north coast and build a network of support.

How does a student register?

  1. Delegate registration forms will be available at your high school in the counseling office or at the Lower Columbia Hispanic Council office. There is a registration fee of $25. Scholarships are available if needed.
  2. Complete the delegate registration and medical form. The form should be signed by the principal of the student’s school and by the student’s parents.
  3. Turn in the form and fees or scholarship form to the counseling office before the deadline, March 15th. You can also turn it in by mail at: PO Box 1029 Astoria, OR 97103, Attention: La Cima LC.
  4. We will be in contact with the student and parents once we are closer to the time of the camp, to confirm that the student is available and willing to have an experience that will surely change their life, at Lower Columbia’s La Cima Camp.

In what language will the camp be led?

The topics of leadership will be presented in two languages, Spanish and English. Students of varying language skills are welcome (i.e. students who are fluent in both languages and students fluent in only one of the two languages. The camp will consist of adult leaders, whom all have different ad varying language abilities.

Is there a cost?

The registration fee is $25. Please make payable to: Lower Columbia Hispanic Council and for: La Cima LC.Scholarships will be available in necessary cases (please fill out the La Cima LC Scholarship Form).

Transportation

Transportation will be provided by the corresponding school district. Delegates will meet at their local school for transportation. Student drivers are not allowed.
